At the start of the project, its scope was narrow, and the Design System—unnamed at the time—had limited adoption. Few relied on it, as it failed to address the company's core challenges.

To increase its adoption rate, we needed to understand the needs of every stakeholder and how to effectively implement the system.


We conducted multiple interviews with designers, marketing professionals, developers, and general users. The results were remarkable:


  • Usage rate increased from 25% to 95%.


  • Team efficiency improved by approximately 34%.

Some of Azul's color combinations—defined in the brandbook—lacked sufficient contrast for an inclusive user experience. Addressing this required a significant effort from the team to manage and improve color combinations in collaboration with stakeholders. In the end, we achieved a high level of contrast in most combinations.

Typography

The typography, Helvetica Neue, was tailored with specific sizes and spacing to meet the company's unique needs.

Icons and Images

Most of Azul’s icons were already in place. We ensured they adhered to criteria for usability and easy interchangeability. For images, we created libraries featuring destinations, people, and 3D visuals to enhance the ecosystem.
